Israel Accused of War Crimes for Blocking Aid into Gaza

Palestinians in Gaza face the threat of hunger and starvation during Ramadan after Israel blocked all humanitarian aid from entering the enclave. The move has sparked global condemnation, with Egypt, Qatar, and Jordan denouncing it as a blatant violation of the ceasefire and international humanitarian law.

The decision to halt aid deliveries has heightened concerns about the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where essential supplies such as food, water, and medicine are already in short supply. Aid organizations warn that the blockade could lead to severe malnutrition and increased mortality rates, particularly among children and vulnerable populations.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reports that 48,388 Palestinians have been killed, and 111,803 have been injured since the beginning of Israel’s military operations. The Government Media Office estimates the death toll to be at least 61,709, citing thousands of people believed to be buried under the rubble.

The conflict began after Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the deaths of at least 1,139 people in Israel and the capture of more than 200 hostages.

Despite international pressure, Israeli officials have refused to enter the second phase of the ceasefire, which would eventually lead to the cessation of hostilities. Instead, they insist on extending the first phase under a US-backed proposal, which expired on Saturday.

Violence Spills Over into Israel

Amid the escalating tensions, Israeli police reported a stabbing attack at a bus station in Haifa, which left one person dead and four others injured. Authorities have not provided further details on the assailant or their motives.

Global leaders and human rights organizations have criticized Israel’s decision to block aid, calling for immediate humanitarian access to Gaza. Egypt, Qatar, and Jordan have urged Israel to lift the blockade and comply with international law.

The United Nations and other humanitarian agencies continue to appeal for an urgent resolution to the crisis, warning that the continued blockade and ongoing violence will lead to catastrophic consequences for the people of Gaza.
